Director of Development, Daytona State College Foundation


There is an opening for Director of Development at the Daytona State College Foundation.

Minimum Qualifications:  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Six (6) years of related experience in fundraising, donor relations, individual and corporate giving, major giving, or related responsibilities is also required.  College level experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:  The Director will develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan for the Daytona State College (DSC) Foundation, including targets for restricted and unrestricted giving through the annual giving campaign, major giving, endowment programs and events.  This individual will work with the Vice President of Advancement to develop and execute a strategy for a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors and corporations; documentation and rating of prospects for those with highest giving potential; development of proposals for individual and corporate funding presentations; utilization of naming opportunities for gift recognition; and building of funds for scholarship and program portfolio.  This individual will be responsible to create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors and is responsible for building the planned giving program, with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest and trust expectancies. This individual will work with the Vice President of Advancement to build and execute a strategy for marketing, donor recognition, and stewardship and management of scholarship funders. This individual will work with the Institutional Advancement team to identify audiences for targeted communications, solicitation and cultivation, as well as execution of special events. He/She will also serve as liaison for areas of responsibility with other individuals, groups, and organizations both internal and external to the College community; assist with marketing of the Foundation and the College.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  The successful candidate must have excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to develop and meet goals is required. Experience with developing and managing budgets is required. He/She must have knowledge of computers, peripherals, and software programs such as Microsoft Suite and donor database management software, such as Raiser’s Edge.  The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and be flexible in order to meet the demands of the College. He/She must also be able to take direction as well as work effectively and professionally on their own.
